South African media personality Somizi Mhlongo, widely famous for his role as a judge on the television show, South African Idols, has recently made history by becoming the first African male to represent a make-up brand.
In a post on instagram, Somizi confirmed that he is the new face of prominent make up brand, Black Opal South Africa saying;
“Ladies and gentlemen I’m honored to announce the face of blackopalsa The first male to represent a make up brand. #blkopalxsomizi when God shows up. He shows off.”
Originally founded in the United States, Black Opal was created to celebrate women of color, in all their different tones and skin types. Emphasizing their ever changing dynamic the brand states that; As time has gone on, it’s founders recognize the need for the brand to evolve, not only to remain appealing to cherished loyal customers, but also to realize the opportunity that comes with an increasingly diverse world.
Diversification that includes our very own ‘Somgaga’, in an ever changing world were men wear makeup too. Confirming the new brand representative, Black Opal took to Instagram saying;
“We are proud to announce somizi as the new brand personality of Black Opal SA.”
The 45 year old South African choreographer, actor and radio personality seems to have made his mark in the history books.
