A little mystery, draws a great deal of human intrigue, so they say. One campaign centered on 'Meeting the King', stood as a testament to this as it caught the attention of many, throwing social media into a limbo. 'Are you ready to meet the king?' was the question that headlined. And, 'Who is this king?' was the thought that followed, pondering immensely.
As if the suspense of the vague campaign tagline wasn't enough to keep everyone glued. Highly acclaimed Zambian hip-hop artist SlapDee, known as The King of Zed hip-hop, had a public show of indifference towards the 'new King' in town. In what we now know to have been PR in it's absolute brilliance. The hip-hop artist, whose names are Mwila Musonda, took social media on a belligerent ride against the supposed 'King' leading up to it's unveiling.
Thursday night, the 2nd of August, the 'King' was finally unveiled. And 'Budweiser' was his name, or rather; it's name. Budweiser is an American lager/beer, that has been in existence for well over a century. It has grown to become one of the largest selling beers in the United States and is available in over 80 markets worldwide — earning it's right to be called The King. To top it off, the American alcoholic beverage was the official sponsor of the just-ended 2018 FIFA World Cup held in Russia.
